Benefits of Restorations
Missing and damaged teeth affect not only your smile’s appearance but also your functionality in everyday life. It’s important to address gaps from missing teeth and cracks or other damage to prevent them from causing further problems later on. Dr. Nielsen is skilled at providing beautiful, strong restorations for a return to a healthy, natural-looking smile.
Bridging the Gap
If you’ve lost one or more teeth and have a gap, a bridge may be the best solution for you. We secure the bridge on either side using crowns attached to the remaining teeth. Our bridges are made with high-quality materials for security and appearance, so the bridge blends well with your other teeth. You can be confident in your full smile!
A Crown Protects a Damaged Tooth
Individual crowns are sometimes necessary to save a broken or worn-down tooth when a simple filling will not restore it to full functionality. By surrounding and supporting the healthy tooth structure, a crown will save, and even strengthen, the damaged tooth. We use the most advanced materials to make your crown. It will look so natural, you won’t be able to distinguish it from a real tooth.
Relax Through Your Care
While we take great pride in being able to deliver painless injections, some patients are naturally anxious at even the thought of a needle. If this sounds like you, we have an offering that may help. One hour before your visit you take a pill that we dispense to you. You reach a level of sedation that allows you to respond to questions but relax throughout your entire visit. This is also ideal for those who have a busy schedule and want to get all their treatments done in one visit. Another option is nitrous oxide for a lighter level of sedation. We want you to feel comfortably relaxed throughout treatment.
Regular Hygiene Visits
An important reason to visit the dentist is to have your teeth cleaned by a professional hygienist. Plaque and tartar form on teeth over time. Plaque is soft and sticky, but regular brushing can usually remove most of it. Plaque hardens into tartar, which is beyond the scope of your toothbrush and floss. Tartar accumulates below the gumline as well as on the surface of the teeth. If you don’t remove plaque, you risk more serious problems with your teeth and gums later on. Having your teeth cleaned regularly is one of the best things you can do to stay healthy!
Digital X-Rays
Traditional dental X-rays have been “good enough,” but digital X-rays provide a clearer and much more accurate picture of what’s going on inside a patient’s mouth. This makes it easier for Dr. Nielsen to diagnose issues. Leaks or breaks in fillings that used to go unnoticed, often leading to root canals, can now be found and treated before major damage is done. We can also view your entire mouth in one shot, including the upper and lower jaws, with panoramic digital images.
Intra-Oral Camera
Dr. Nielsen works hand-in-hand with patients to create a bond of teamwork. The amazing intra-oral camera is a miniature video camera that displays a close-up picture of the inside of your mouth. You can see for yourself what work needs to be done and which teeth are doing fine. You then become a participant in each dental decision. You’ll love how this works!
One-Visit Crowns
We are pleased to offer crowns made with CEREC™, a highly precise computer milling machine that makes crowns right in the office, in about an hour. No more temporaries, additional visits, or crowns that don’t seem to fit right. These modern restorations dramatically reduce cracking, lowering the likelihood of needing future root canal treatment. Due to the custom design and precise fit, CEREC restorations are bonded to the tooth with the optimum strength available. If you have ever had a crown placed the traditional way, we are sure you will notice the difference!
Dental Implant Restorations
Missing teeth can cause difficulties in chewing and make you self-conscious about your smile. We have an excellent solution – dental implant restorations! After an oral surgeon places a titanium post, Dr. Nielsen will custom-create natural-looking restorations. These will match the rest of your teeth, function just like the originals, and be impossible for anyone to detect! Get the smile you deserve – permanently!
Beautiful Dentures for Confident Smiles
If traditional dentures are the best option for you, we can design and fit beautiful-looking dentures that are comfortable and secure. If you are looking for dentures that won’t slip, we invite you to ask us about this option. It will make your life so much easier.
Do You Need Partial Dentures?
It’s always best to keep as many healthy teeth as possible because they keep the jawbone strong and provide the best function and appearance. But if you have some missing teeth, or need to have some removed due to damage, decay, or gum disease, a partial denture may be best for you. Partial dentures can be used to replace missing teeth in any area of the mouth and are custom-designed to fit your needs.
A Healthy Smile, A Healthy Body
Did you know that the cause of most tooth loss is not decay? It’s gum disease. And recent studies have established a link between gum disease and your overall health. The good news is that gum disease can be treated successfully, often without surgery. Our commitment to you includes paying meticulous attention to all of your needs for healthy teeth and gums so you not only look your best but also have optimum overall health.
No Mercury! No Metals! No Kidding!
While silver-mercury amalgam fillings are a reasonable restoration, metal does not bond well to teeth, so decay can and does eventually leak into the tooth. But the biggest reason many of our patients prefer white bonded fillings is that they are a natural-looking white, contain no metals, and can actually strengthen your teeth. They also bond very tightly with the healthy part of the tooth so there is much less chance of decay in the future.
Root Canals Save Hopeless Teeth
Teeth with roots that have been damaged or infected used to require extraction, which can cause a lot of problems. The good news is that we are well experienced in advanced root canal therapy, a procedure that removes the pulp chamber of a tooth and fills it with filling material, saving the tooth. With modern anesthetics and technology, root canals are quite manageable, and we can do them here, with the team you already trust, instead of referring you to another office.
